For an article in PR Week, I have commented on public affairs in 2024.
“The unexpectedly early calling of the general election caught everyone off guard. No one seemed to be sufficiently prepared, and that has caused some of the early problems encountered by Labour coming into government. Whatever preparation work was undertaken was either insufficient or curtailed. That showed that it is never too early to engage with a political party, whether government or opposition, but that the emphasis should always be on helping them to deliver a workable solution to the challenge being faced. The development of the solution needs to be both political – helping to address a real challenge which would put the government in a good light-and administrative – how to successfully navigate the institutions. That became very clear in 2024.”
